WOW! What a Storm!

Last night as I was watching the news the weather men didn't make a big deal about the storm approaching. Just mentioned in passing there could be baseball size hail from a cell directly west of my house but moved on and went to sports. What happened to the drama drawn out exaggerations of the most horrible hail storm ever. ?>!>! They didn't do it so I sat and enjoyed my DVR'd show not frantically cleaning out my garage to save Charley's car!! So all of a sudden I hear what sounds like baseballs hitting my house with the bat. Starts out a couple hits then the sky opened up and hail covered my yard, big hail, little hail, medium size hail. My kids rooms face west and their windows sounded like they would explode so we moved them downstairs. Once the kids were down stairs Charley and I opened the front door to look out and it was amazing the yard was covered and when we looked closer we saw his drivers side passenger window was gone and he has dents galore all over his car. UUUGGHHH!! A lot of my pretty flowers we just planted took a good hit and in my backyard my dad and Charley just planted two bradford pear trees and one of them lost 5 branches and that is not good for a new small tree. Oh well they will grow. The storm has passed except rain now so we move his car in the garage mine out and send the kids back to bed. I turn on the news and that is all they are talking about. Glad the cities to our East were prepared, wishing we were too. In all my almost 34 years this was the worst hail I had ever seen. We were explaining to Kylee what it was -ice falling from the sky. She looked at the yard and said I bet we don't have school tomorrow. Wishful thinking!!

Let's Plant A Flower

Last weekend we worked in our yard and the girls and I planted flowers. Charley's mom was sweet and took pictures of the whole thing. The girls fell in love with these beautiful yellow marigolds. They wanted to help with the whole thing. I knew I could plant them really fast by myself but decided it would be more fun with their help and it was. They did great getting the soil and shoveling it into the ground and then patting the flower in "gently". We only lost one big yellow flower to the head being pinched off. It was fun for us and the flowers look beautiful in the ground. I am on the lookout for some more to fill in some empty space.

Spring Break 2009

We had a great Spring Break. This was our first official Spring Break of having a child in school and I was so excited for the break. It was a little preview of summer and I am ready!! We stayed busy with playdates at the park, lunch with friends, riding our bikes to the park almost everyday, seeing Aunt T and Ethan and Ella, Disney on Ice, Family Fun Day, and Meme, Pops, and GanGan visit. Unfortunately, I didn't have my camera for all the fun but I am posting what I did take pictures of.

1. A Visit from Meme, Pops, and GanGan
Boy what fun we have had with Meme, Pops, and GanGan. They got here this last Friday night very late and just left us this morning. While they were here, there were bike rides to the park, game playing, cookie baking, book reading, movie watching, Chuck e Cheese visit, and just loving the time together. Kylee was so happy they were here she was so silly and laughed so much it was so sweet to see. The pictures below are just a little bit of our time with them. We also always love when GanGan comes too. GanGan and Katie played nonstop Saturday morning while Kylee was at Soccer evaluation. It was so sweet to watch. They also all got to go eat lunch with Kylee at school yesterday which was so neat for Kylee. Kylee really has a hard time when they leave and tells Meme and Pops she wishes they lived closer so she wouldn't have to cry everytime they left. I am so thankful my girls love their grandparents.

2. Family Fun Friday
On Friday, Charley took the day off work for us to have an intown vacation. It was so great. We went to the Aquarium and the American Girl store for our big outings. The Aquarium was so neat. It was like a mini zoo with lots of little monkey type things and fish. The girls loved it. We got there early before 10 and we were so glad because it was already crowded. We didn't have to wait but when we left the line was wrapped around the building. Katie was so excited they had something similar to a lion, made her day and she got to see "Nemo". Kylee got to feed a bird and she loved the weird looking fish.
From their we went to the American Girl store, a first for us all. The girls are in love. They just got to walk around and look but now Kylee wants one for her birthday, which is in a couple weeks. We thought we were getting a Wii but know that may be changing. Kylee really liked the Just like you dolls and the new one Chrssa. Katie loved the bitty babies and the llama sitting by one of the dolls. That place was packed with GIRLS!!!!!and a couple unfortunate dads and sons (mine would be one of those). He just didn't get the whole thing:) But didn't mind the time with the girls.
When we got home Kylee changed into her new soccer shoes and outfit and hit the backyard to try it all out Then they had playtime in the playhouse with daddy. We had a great day!!

3. Disney on Ice
On Wednesday night we went to see Disney on Ice with our family, my sister, Brian and Ethan and Kylee invited her friend Savannah to go with us. We always love when we can sit in the Suite and watch the show, thanks for the tickets Charley! Kylee was so excited Savannah could come and they loved every minute of the show together. Katie and Ethan were in such awe of the whole thing. They danced, flapped arms and Katie waved to Ariel forever. It was a great Disney on Ice and we loved all the treats in the suite and a huge bag of cotton candy the girls all enjoyed. The show got over pretty late and we didn't get home until after 10 so Kylee got to have Savannah sleepover which was a treat in itself!! They were pretty tired so they went to bed pretty quickly but were ready to play as soon as they could the next morning. It was a great night and day!!

Katie's First Dentist Visit

Last week Katie and Kylee had a dentist appointment. This was Katie's first trip to the dentist and she did awesome. We go to see my good friend Monica (a.k.a to Katie as Mrs. Merica) who is a dental hygienist and is super great with my girls. Kylee went first and Katie patiently waited her turn. When it was her turn she hopped right up and was ready to go. She opened her mouth big and wide and didn't have any hesitation to getting her teeth cleaned. Way to go Katie. Kylee got two X Rays done that day and we got to see her big grown up teeth. She even has one loose tooth, just barely loose but loose. She will be my kiddo with some major mouth work done in the not so distant future. Her mouth is small and teeth are so big:) It was a fun dentist visit and we can't wait to see "Mrs. Merica" again!

Katie and The Mermaids

Just a little story I want to remember. This morning at breakfast we were talking to the girls about our summer vacation to the beach and all the fun stuff we would be doing like swimming, going to a beach with lots of shells, and being by the water. Katie gets the most excited look on her face and in her high pitch 3 year old voice squeals: and we will see all the little mermaids:) She really thinks mermaids are real, think she likes Disney Ariel!!
