Valentines Day and Katie's 4th Birthday!

We had a very full fun Valentines Day and Katie's 4th Birthday. We started the day with a short Valentine Day celebration of waking up to Charley writing out I Love You with Peanut M&M's on our island. Then the girls got to see their Valentine treat. We quickly switched gears to Birthday celebration for Katie. We weren't having her party today so we just had family celebration. We started off with her favorite orange cinnamon rolls with 4 candles in it. Then we opened family gifts. Kylee got Katie a dress up tutu with crown and wand and Charley and I got Katie a bracelet and My Little Pony bottle cap necklace and a visit to the American Girl Doll Salon. She was excited to do it all. She kept saying Am I 4 now?? We said yes but still can't believe it! We had a great time at the American Girl store. We were first in line for the salon and both girls picked out their favorite hair style and watched the ladies do their dolls hair. My mom and dad and my sister's family came and then we went over to the Galleria for lunch, gifts, and cake. Kylee had received Valentine money and chose to spend it on Ice Skating. She got to do this for the first time and had a great time. I was the lucky one to skate with her and I had fun. The pictures don't show her off the side but she got brave towards the end and would go a ways without stopping or holding on. She fell once and sliced her finger but got right back up. At the end I wasn't even on the rink with her she was going alone. To say she loved it is an understatement. She can't wait to do it again. We had a blast on Katie's birthday and so did Katie!!

Happy 4th Birthday To My Little Ballerina Katie!!

Today is my little babies 4th Birthday. I can't believe Katie is 4. I still remember just like it was yesterday she was in my arms for the first time. We went to bed last night telling Katie about the day she was born. She was a true blessing. She is so big girl now. She is also so responsible. She gets herself up in the morning, brushes her teeth and some mornings she actually gets dressed, she takes her plates to sink or trash, bathes herself, and she can do things I ask her too and wants to help out. The one thing she fights us on is cleaning the playroom but we are working on that. She is incredible at playing by herself. She loves to play with all princess things, doll houses, baby dolls, American Girl doll, and dressing up. If you ask her what she wants to eat she will always say chicken. She doesn't always eat it good but she asks for it. She can say the books of the NT all the way to James. We are working on the rest but she is proud of it. She loves Kylee and gives her huge hugs all the time. She loves people and talks about her friends all the time. She know all her letters and almost all of the sounds. She is very dramatic and talks to us with lots of drama and enthusiasm. She tells us she wants to be a ballerina when she grows up. She also says she wants to be a Musketeer so we will see :) (She got that from Barbie and The Three Musketeers. She loves to sing esp. songs from Enchanted and dance to them in a pink dress like Jezell. She makes us laugh and smile and brings joy to our family daily. God has richly blessed us with Katie and we pray everyday we are doing a good job raising her and she will grow up to love the Lord with all her heart!

The Big Snow of 2010

WOW!! The Big Record Snowfall of 2010 was so fun. We had really thought we missed out on the whole snow thing since we missed the Christmas snow. So when we woke up Thursday morning and there was snow on the ground we go the girls up and let them play before they went to school just in case it all melted before they got home. We didn't want them to miss a few minutes playing little did we know we would be able to play for days and be part of this incredible 12 inches of snow event. I was actually surprised school was not canceled but not disappointed because I didn't want Kylee to have to make up another school day. So Kylee went to school and it was Amber's turn to take the little girls to school so I got Katie in her van and said a big prayer as they left because the roads were looking bad in our neighborhood and the snow was really falling. She called me and said it would be a long trip to school so about an hour later she called and the kids made it in safely. I decided to not go to the gym and went to the grocery store instead and that is when the emails and calls started coming about Kylee's school closing an hour early at the same time Katie got out so Amber was picking up the little girls and me the big girls. Then I got the email that preschool was closing an hour early. WOW!! I had so many things planned that Thursday to get done and do but I quickly finished groceries and trudged through the Target parking lot with a basket full of groceries. When I got home the neighborhood streets and sidewalks were covered so deep. When I got Kylee and Anna from school there was no sidewalk to even know where to walk. We have no snow clothes so I was drenched as were my children. So I took the big girls to Ambers to get Katie but we ended up staying for over an hour letting the kids play. We definitely took advantage of this rare good snow and had fun with friends. The girls also loved playing with Bitsie in the snow. We looked on google for snow ice cream and made some with the items at the house and it was pretty good. The girls loved it. So much fun!! Then when Charley got home he had seen some people up by the school going down this big hill with sleds and tubes. He got the girls all changed again and in dry clothes and then they went to sled for the first time ever. Kylee and Katie loved it and Kylee could have done it for even longer. One thing I learned is we needed true snow clothes for this and snow leaves you with lots of wet laundry to do but it was fun. On the next morning school was canceled and we got back out and made tons of snow angels, I made one too, walked around our street, attempted a snowman, made more snow ice cream for dad to try, and more snowball fights. It was fun but has made me very ready for Spring!!

Saints Win!

YEA!! The Saints won and we had a blast watching. I watched the entire game and loved every minute of it. I got nervous at times and excited in the end. We went to my parents house and I couldn't have picked a better food spread and time with family. We had shrimp, crab dip, red beans and rice, King Cake, queso, and more King Cake!! It was a fun Superbowl celebration and we loved spending it with my mom and dad. I taught the girls to say Who Dat say they gonna beat dem Saints Who Dat Who Dat! They thought I was crazy at first but then they had fun with it. The next morning Kylee was wanting me to teach it to her friend on the way to school:) Can't wait to watch the Saints next year. Maybe I will turn into a football fan, maybe (Ha Ha)!

Who Dat!

Well history is in the making this weekend: The Saints are in the Superbowl and I am going to actually watch the game this year. If you are reading this you may be wondering when I became interested in football and why do I care about the Saints. Well I am not really interested in football but I have always loved the Saints. I grew up 45 minutes North of New Orleans, my grandparents lived there my whole time I lived in MS., my dad grew up in NO, and the list could keep going. I have always cheered on the Saints but you have probably never heard me say it because they are not the team you talk about because they aren't in the playoffs very often, never won a NFC championship, and have NEVER been to the Superbowl. So I am really excited about the game. I love that the underdog team is in the big game and I love that I have history with the team and I really want them to win. I love that I have gotten to talk to my girls about the Saints and talk a lot about where I came from and my "younger years". I got to talk about their great grandparents and all kinds of adventures that involve New Orleans. Every year around Feb. we have a King Cake and celebrate on a low level Mardi Gras because I did every year when I was a kid. So Sunday night will be a celebration of my heritage with King Cake and all and lots of cheering on the Saints. I hope they win but I am just proud of the team that has never been there before to get a shot at it and I will enjoy watching the whole game not just the commercials for the first time ever. SAINTS all the WAY!!!!
