Friday in AR/Spring Sing

This Easter weekend we decided to head to AR to visit Charley's family and take the girls to Spring Sing at Harding. Yes, we are getting them interested in Harding early on but we will pray that when it comes time for college they will go where the Lord wants them to. We got them out of school early on Thursday and made our way to AR. On Friday morning it was beautiful and we spend the majority of the day outside. The girls hunted eggs, went on walks, ran around, went to the park, played all sorts of cards, colored eggs, and had fun with our 2nd cousins. It was a great day. Then on Saturday we went to Searcy and drove around looking at sights and then went to Harding. We ate in the student center. It is so nice now. Then we went for a walk on the lawn, sat in swings, visited my first college dorm, and hung at the lily pond. I ran into my uncle and had a nice chat and several friends from here in town while at Harding. Then we went to Spring Sing. Kylee loved it and sat and watched the entire time. Katie slept through the first half and then was a little cranky but perked up to finish it out. Kylee still talks about liking it. It was so surreal to be back at Harding married with two kids and showing them the sights. I loved it and thanked God for the life he has blessed me with. When we got back to Newport, we went straight to dinner celebrating Charley's Papaws birthday. Then we headed home to get ready for the Easter Bunny and go to bed. It was a great day!

Kylee's First Field Trip

Kylee finally had her first ever field trip with her first grade. They went to the zoo and had a blast. What Kylee was the most excited about was the bus ride. She couldn't wait to ride on the big yellow bus. She was excited all morning and got up very early to get ready. I met up with her at the zoo and Amber and I and our groups discover Texas with our girls we had. They laughed, ran, talked, giggled, and had a blast. You could sign your kids out at the zoo and they could go with you for more zoo time or to go home but Kylee wanted to finish up her field trip with a ride on the bus with her friends. She talked for days about this being the best field trip ever.

Kylee's Lemonade Stand

A few weeks before the lemonade stand Charley and Kylee went on a date. While they were out Kylee told him she had an idea to do a lemonade stand and give the money to the needy. Charley took the opportunity to tell her about Bread for a Hungry World and what it does for kids and people. They agreed this would be a good place for the money she raised. Charley talked to Bobby who runs Bread and got some brochures and bracelets to pass out and sell. Kylee worked all week during Spring Break on the posters. She really did put all her time into it. The day came that is was pretty outside and warm so we set up on the corner of a main street since our street doesn't get a lot of traffic. It was such a God thing where we set up and all the people that stopped by. Our first customers were some kids in Kylee's class that were really interested in what the money was for and Kylee got a chance to talk about God and giving with them. Most people that stopped by were only going to give a quarter or two but when they heard about what the money was for they gave more, sometimes a lot more. That was so neat for Kylee to see. Katie had fun to and liked passing out lemonade. We even had our favorite customers stay around and help us out. Business really picked up when some friends stopped by and the singing and dancing on the corner to come by Lemonade started. We sold $17 worth in a little over an hour. Kylee was beyond happy with it and couldn't wait to tell Uncle Bobby about it. She happily gave it all to help other people.

Spring Break 2010

I was so excited for Spring Break-sleeping in, no homework, PJ days, and relaxing! We did all that but filled our days too. I tried to something fun each day with the girls. One day we painted, another made cookies, and then Thursday and Friday Charley took off work for a vacation in town-a staycation! On Thursday, Kylee had her Allergy checkup and then we headed to the bowling alley. When we got there it was packed with tons of people and you had to get put on the waiting list so we changed our plans and went to Grapevine Mills to ride the carousel and go to Gameworks. We did both of those and added in the bungee trampoline for Kylee and the mechanical monkey that Katie drove around. We bribed Kylee that if she would do a back flip on the bungee thing we would give her a dollar. We really didn't think she would do it but she did and she was so proud of herself. That evening we met my sis and her family for dinner and then went to the Lions club to see chicks, ducks and bunnies. My children were in animal heaven. On Friday we got up early and went to eat at the Ol Pancake House in Fort Worth and then got to the Science Museum before it opened which turned out to be a great decision. It was packed by noon. We left around 12:30 and headed home. That evening we prepared for Meme, Pops, GanGan, and Aunt Robin to visit. It was a great Spring Break and I was sad to get back to the busy daily routine. Summer is right around the corner!

Open House-Howdy Texan's

Kylee had her First Grade Open House right before Spring Break. She was very excited to show off her class room and work to us. The theme of the open house for first grade was Texas. We saw all her projects she had worked on and a great story she had written about music. She also got to share homemade salsa which she said was the best ever! It was good. The night was also Math night at her school so we went and played some fun games with Kylee and her school friends. She was so proud of her school. I think that is so important for her to love it and continue that attitude all through school years.
