Easter Weekend

Well, I don't think we could have packed one more thing into our Easter Weekend. We had a ball and stayed busy the whole time!

1. The weekend got us started with our first soccer game. Charley is the asst. coach for Kylee's team and she loves that. She did great for our first game and even scored a goal. The team we played was really good but they all had fun and we are ready for the next game. Katie wanted to run on the field to Charley the whole game so we learned to prepare her that daddy is coaching. She is ready to play next year!

2. Saturday night after church we had our small group over for dinner and an egg hunt. There were 41 friends in our home and we loved every minute of it. The weather decided to turn bad right about time for the egg hunt so we moved it upstairs. The kids still loved it and had a blast. I think my kids ate enough sugar this whole weekend to last a lifetime. I loved getting to spend time with our friends that evening.

3. Easter morning- We woke up Easter morning to a horrible smell in our home. I had put eggs on the stove to boil the night before so they would be cool Sunday morning. Well, I forgot I had put them on the stove, Yep!!, thanking the Lord our house didn't burn down. The eggs and stove where all there burned up and on. The eggs had popped all night(we heard it but it was raining and we thought it was little hail). nope, the eggs exploding. Blessing we opened all windows, threw out pot, and bought more eggs. I did include the picture of the eggs below as a reminder for me to always set the timer.
The girls loved their Easter basket goodies and had a Easter egg hunt around the house. Then Charley and I did the resurrection egg story of Jesus. It was a fun morning. We finally did dye eggs and the girls loved it. Katie is 3 now and this is the first year she has really gotten into all the holiday fun with Kylee. Charley and I love watching them make all these memories together.

4. For lunch we went to my mom and dads and met up with my sisters family. We all had a blast. My girls and niece Ella all matched so I took tons of pics of them together. We had a yummy lunch, indoor egg hunt (thanks to rain and wet grass), and flew finger kites. Great times with cousins.

Ear Piercing and American Girl Doll!

Wow! I feel like we have been celebrating birthday forever and then you throw in Easter and we are celebrated out!!! It has been fun though and I love Birthdays!!! So the two things Kylee asked for her birthday were to get her ears pierced (I blogged about this a couple months ago) and an American Girl Doll, specifically the Chrissa doll. So on Wednesday night, the night before her birthday we surprised her with getting her ears pierced at Sweet and Sassy. She did great. There were a few tears after they pierced them but give the girl a lollipop and a mirror to admire her new jewels and she was happy. At dinner we had to make several trips to the bathroom to look at the new earrings. We told Katie when she was older she could get her ears pierced and she said I bigger now. I be brave. Not just yet. We are now cleaning our earrings at night and morning and Kylee is being very responsible in remembering and she turns them herself. I am quite proud of her.

Kylee's second thing she wanted was an American Girl Doll. By the way, Kylee reminds me it is a girl doll not a baby doll. So, my mom and dad and Charley and I went in together and got her the Chrissa doll. She was thrilled, so was Katie (look at Katies face below). We also got her the picnic table and party treats and my sister and her family got her a outfit for Chrissa. Then with money Kylee got for her birthday from Meme and Pops and Gan Gan and Aunt Robin and Uncle Irby she got a matching pj's for her doll and herself. She loves that doll. It sleeps with her, goes places with her. I had no idea she would like it that much. On her birthday night we met my mom and dad and my sisters family for dinner at Cracker Barrel. This was what Kylee picked because she likes to play checkers on the porch with my dad and sister. She is getting really good at checkers, right now her goal is to beat Grandad.

Happy Birthday Kylee!!

Happy 6th Birthday Kylee!!! I can't believe it is your birthday and you blessed us with your presence this day 6 years ago. We love you so much and are so proud of the little lady you are becoming. We have had lots of celebrating this week and I will write more about that later but I wanted to document 6 of my favorite memories and thoughts about you.

1. You are genuinely kind. You are willing to give in esp when it comes to your sister and let her have things or do things even when you want to. You are kind to your parents, sister, family, and friends.

2. You have such a love of learning. I hope this stays with you forever. You are really doing well reading and writing. You love to create things and work on projects. School is one of your favorite places to go and you love to come home and share what you are doing at school.

3. Your other favorite place is church. You have a real desire to know the Lord and learn his word. You also love your church friends and teachers and talk about them all the time.

4. You love to eat steak and ribs, no McDonald's for you, you love the real food. So we love it when you choose these yummy places. You love Cheddars, Corner Bakery, Nikki's, and Marble Slab with grandma.

5. You love to shop. This could be scary the older you get. I am so thankful for my shopping buddy. You like to pick out your own clothes and definitely have an opinion on what you like and don't like. You are also great at when I tell you we can't get that today you are so good about being patient and being OK with not buying everything you want.

6. You are still sometimes shy but one my favorite things is when I catch you dancing when you think no one is looking or singing a song at the top of your lungs when you think we aren't around. I know all this will come out of you one day. Some days you are so silly others so serious but I love all those days with you.

We love you Miss Kylee and couldn't be prouder of you. Happy 6th Birthday!!

Kylee's 6th Birthday Party/Let's Slumber!

This past Friday night we had a birthday party for Kylee. Her official birthday isn't until this Thursday but since it is Easter weekend we had it a week early. We had a Slumber Party birthday celebration with 8 of Kylee's friends. She had waited for this day for months and we were so happy when it got here. It was a total success from start to finish and when you see the last picture you will know how much fun she had. When the last friend waved bye Kylee crawled up in Charley's lap and cried because she was so sad the party was over and even that night at bedtime she said she missed her friends. All the little girls arrived at 6 ready to party. The giggles and excitement never ended. When they first got here we had a craft room set up with two tables: one was decorating a groovy neon bracelet and then decorating a bag for all their goodies from the party. After everyone finished this we had pizza, crazy bread and fruit and put our party hats on and blew horns so loud!! Then it was cupcake sing happy birthday time. Charley helped me make slumber party girl cupcakes. Then we opened presents. I think every girl was excited about all the gifts as much as Kylee was. We had a spontaneous game after the gift opening wrapping paper and tissue paper fight. They covered Kylee in it and had the best time and they helped throw it all away after the game. Then it was official game time:
1. Pinata
2. Musical sleeping bags-same as musical chairs just with sleeping bags
3. Who's in the bag?-The kids get in a sleeping bag and cover up and the person who is it ask them questions and they disguise their voice and then the it person tries to guess who is in the bag. Pretty funny voices!!
4. Decorate a cupcake to take home-had to kill some time while we were waiting for it to get dark.
5. Grab your flashlights and glow necklaces and have an Easter Egg Hunt in the dark
6. Dance Freeze with glowsticks in our media room in the dark. They loved this and could have played forever!! I was laughing so hard at the seriousness of the dancing and freezing. The laughing between the girls was hilarious also.

After game time the girls changed PJ's got on their new slippers and watched Thumbelina with popcorn and water. Then brushed teeth and time to hit our sleeping bags.
I gave a good talk about don't be scared to come and talk to me if you need me and what to do if you get scared, etc... Then I read a bedtime story, A friend said a night night prayer and lights were off... Just no one tired (except me and Charley). They talked for about 5 minutes, coughed for 10 minutes and we all asleep before 11 pm.

Then it was Rise and Shine at 7 am for almost everyone. The early risers got to decorate a birthday sign for Kylee. Then they finished Thumbelina while Charley got donuts. After breakfast was play time, first inside then out.

Truly one of my favorite parties and we would do it again. Kylee has thanked me many times for planning such a great party. I just can't believe it is number 6 (more on that Thursday). I am so thankful Kylee has such sweet friends. They were all so sweet and kind to each other and just all loved being together helping celebrate my babies birthday!! I think I smiled just thinking about for the rest of the day (inbetween my two hour nap)!!!
