Halloween 2010
Another year of a fun Halloween! The girls dressed up as a Grecian Queen and Peacock Princess. They were so excited to finally wear their costumes and get candy! We made our annual first stop at Grandmommy and Grandaddy's house. Then we headed back to our neighborhood for door to door trick or treating! Our neighborhood is very packed with kids and my kids have so much fun. We always love seeing friends and neighbors while we are trick or treating! The girls got tons of candy. We made a big ziploc of candy to send to Ghana. I was proud of the girls for picking out so much candy to send away to kids that may have never had candy before. They did get to keep plenty of candy for themselves. But did learn a lesson on giving even of Halloween!
Fall Fest
On the eve of Halloween we spent the evening volunteering at one of our churches church plants. The girls helped a little but played mostly and I watched them and when I had a moment I helped Charley at his booth. He was at the ball toss. He was there the entire time and had a good time with the kids. We enjoyed helping a new church out!
Teen Lifeline Race
We got up bright and early to go run the Teen Lifeline race at our church. They have a 5K and a 1 mile fun run for kids. Charley ran the 5 K last year and this year he really wanted us all to run the 1 mile fun run. So that is what we did. I ran with Kylee and Charley ran with Katie. We were so proud of both of them. They ran most of the race. Kylee ran in around 13 minutes and Katie ran it in around 14 1/2 minutes. They were proud of themselves. We had fun doing this with them. It is also for a really good cause so I bet this will be a family tradition and we will one day work up to the 5K.
Academic Fair/YeeHaw Fest
On Friday right before Halloween Kylee's school has a dress up in your costume day and an academic fair. Then that night they had their Yee Haw Fest. It makes for a really long, fun, tiring day! I volunteered at the academic fair and worked the measure the scarecrow booth. It was the easiest booth to work. The kids can all read very good now so I just got to talk to them and catch up. It was fun to hear about their costumes and Halloween plans. I love getting to know Kylee's friends and kids in her grade better. Most of them know me and call me Mrs. Moore. I think that is hilarious! Then the tradition is to put on a show for the parents. This year they did a dance to The Monster Mash. They all did so good and knew all the dance moves. It was hilarious and fun to watch. I love watching Kylee come out of her shell and have fun.
Then that night we went back up to school and attended the school fall fest-Yee Haw Fest. I spent an hour in the tunnel maze volunteering. The girls played all kinds of games, got their hair spray painted, jumped, hang out with friends, Cake Walk, and Kylee got to see her teachers. We also won the auction for her teacher's dessert. They do raffles, silent auction, and teacher dessert auctions. Our school made a lot of money this year. I was happy about that. Let's just say be the time we got home we all crashed! It was a great Friday and kick off for a very busy Halloween weekend!
